A welcoming community sharing Friendship, Fellowship, Faith and Fun -

Welcome to The Merthyr Tydfil Ministry Area

Come to church and be part of our community! Our Merthyr Tydfil Ministry Area is the joining together of four parishes - Merthyr Tydfil St David and Abercanaid; Merthyr Tydfil Christ Church; Dowlais, Pant and Penydarren, and Troedyrhiw with Merthyr Vale. It stretches from Dowlais to Merthyr Vale and across to Christ Church with the town in the middle.

Our motto is Friendship, Fellowship, Faith and Fun and as we have now been working together for two years we are truly learning to do all four together. Two years ago we were a separate group of churches all ploughing our own furrow when Bishop June decided we were going to work together. It seemed like a mountain to climb but then we realised that most of us do this every day so our ministry area was formed. It’s early days but we are learning how to build friendships across a larger area and how we can be in fellowship despite worshipping in eight buildings. We share our faith but it has different expressions in the various churches which reflect the broadness of the Anglican Church nationally and we make sure that we do fun things together.

We are certain that whichever congregation you approach, whichever community you feel drawn to engage with, you will receive a very warm welcome and will quickly find a home among friends. Don’t be shy, as the Jesus inspired car bumper sticker says – ‘Carpenter needing joiners!’ We look forward to meeting you.
